This ensures remote plantation sites always have the best and most up to date information needed for their operations. Our experts and consultants can monitor the plantation’s performance and provide advice in real time from anywhere in the world.

Global Positioning System (GPS)

A GPS is a highly accurate satellite based radio navigation system providing reliable three-dimensional positioning, navigation, and timing services.

Some of the potential and useful GPS applications in forestry include tree species location mapping, tree inventory and assessments, forest compartment boundary survey, and forest road survey.

Geographic Information System (GIS)

technology Touchwood has improved its forest management practices through the use of recent spatial technologies including Geographic Information System and Global Positioning System (GPS) technology.

GIS can be used for scientific investigations, resource management, performance measurement, environmental impact study, logistics planning and risk assessment to name a few.

Both GIS and GPS are used in Touchwood to enhance any planning process and facilitate the development of accurate and up-to-date digital databases of Touchwood’s forest plantations. The databases are linked to a digital map which contains tree location, surrounding physical features, point of interests as well as descriptive information including field observations and measurement data.

Agarwood Inoculation

Touchwood continues to work on patented Agarwood inoculation technology with scientists from the University of Minnesota. A 2 year joint research trial in Thailand has already concluded with excellent results.

The technology is being further refined through an in-house program to further improve results. Touchwood, as the licensed and exclusive provider of this technology is making itavailable to all Agarwood growers in Thailand through its subsidiary company, Agarwood Technologies Co., Ltd.
