Mahogany trees grow well in tropical areas and are known to exceed 50 meters in height and 2 meters in diameter. Mahogany has been grown in Sri Lanka for more than 100 years, where its commercial value has long been recognised. Sri Lankan mahogany is golden reddish-brown with a straight grain and few voids making it highly valued and sought by craftsmen around the world.

Touchwood's plantations are ideally situated for the Swietenia macrophylla species in areas with excellent climate, rainfall and soils. Much care is taken promote growth of the trees such as canopy maintenance and a unique technology to prevent pest attack. Constant monitoring and care through to harvest ensures excellent growth and timber quality.

International trade is restricted to CITES certified plantation grown trees.
