Establishment
The plantation establishment process is detailed and lengthy, often being undertaken over many months.
Initially surveyors work with forestry experts to determine the most productive organization of the land. Plans are drawn for planting areas, sloping and drainage, water catchments and storage, irrigation and fertilization systems, roads and infrastructure such as buildings and facilities essential for plantation operations.
During development and prior to planting the original soil characteristics are enhanced based on laboratory analysis results. Existing large trees are preserved.
The establishment process is carefully monitored by silviculture and engineering experts with certification to Touchwood’s exacting standards required on completion.
