Sanga - Bikes for Life
March 21st 2012
International icon and a star in the world of cricket Kumar Sangakkara exploited his passion for rural development in Sri Lanka by donating the first 300 bicycles to rural communities in the island’s war-affected North Eastern Kilinochchi region on 26th January 2012. This project is facilitated by the Foundation of Goodness, an initiative supported by Sangakkara. Touchwood donated 1 million rupees for this worthy cause and intents to support this foundation in future.
Transportation was amongst the burning issues for the people of this region. Providing a mode of transportation as simple as bicycles is the beginning of a productive and efficient future for the local populace. Saving time on commuting is the key to making time for development. This project supports the rural communities by enabling the convenience of commuting and the more efficient use of time.
“Sanga’s Bikes for Life” is a hope for a better future for the rural communities. The campaign will continue during the next few months and the new fundraising target is 1000 bikes. No matter where you are from, you can make a difference to way of life. Come and join this campaign by making a donation.
