Corporate Social Responsibility
The Touchwood Group is a “triple bottom line” company. Our values embrace People, Planet and Profit in harmony with each other while maintaining traditional emphasis on corporate governance, accountability and best practice. We take our responsibility to all stakeholders very seriously.
People
People are the driving force behind a triple bottom line company. People are responsible for analysing the actions required to achieve positive outcomes and for their successful completion. All decisions reflect our commitment to people, planet, profit and the communities in which we participate.
Since people make up communities, Touchwood engages with communities where we operate as valuable stakeholders. These relationships are important in achieving our objectives and have a high priority.
We continually make efforts to foster first-class working relationships and become an integral part of local communities. This brings skills and capacity building to the area and helps to support the local economy providing employment and opportunities for suppliers and traders alike. Our influence in these areas goes far beyond just planting trees. Our intention is to foster good relations with all stakeholders to ensure we continue to build added value in the local community.

Planet
Planet Earth is our home. It is the island on which we depend for our survival, and for all our hopes and dreams. Without the ability to move to another island we must exercise care and respect for our home if we are to realise our hopes and dreams.
Day by day concerns about climate change, deforestation, biodiversity and sustainability increase as do demands for energy, economic growth, increased standards of living and longer life expectancy. Managed forestry is an important component in the equation to balance human activity with nature. We must remember that we depend on the planet earth for our survival and the planet depends on our stewardship.

Profit
Profit is a commercial reality of the world in which we live. Profit is the reason large areas of natural forest have been destroyed and the very same reason why managed forestry can help to stop further destruction. Given the high indirect costs of logging natural forests, such as loss of habitat and bio-diversity, managed forestry offers an economical and cost effective alternative source for forest products. Even more important, managed forestry and the profits derived there from are sustainable.
Timber has a long trading history over hundreds of years providing investors with detailed data over the period. Timber has consistently provided better returns than other asset classes. Timber’s measurably low correlation with other asset classes means that returns tend to be stable in fluctuating markets. Investors looking to diversify their portfolio and add stability can consider managed forestry with the confidence of hindsight knowing that timber increases in value as it grows.
